Lesser-known best albums of '08

While the magazines and major indie music sites are rolling out with their top of the year picks, there are a lot of bands that aren't really getting their due. And some that are getting too much, like Vampire Weekend. I read more about folks hating them than having much love for 'em. There were some really good albums that came out this year that didn't get enough attention/hype or got shot down by some critic's review. It's a shame, really. Why let some critic determine what's ear-candy for you and what isn't?
In no particular order...

The Lord Dog Bird by The Lord Dog Bird

For whatever reason, the writers at Pitchfork didn't think much of this album. I, on the other hand, am loving it.

Women by Women

A very good lo-fi album from the Jagjaguwar label

Shots by Ladyhawk

Another good album coming off the Jagjaguwar label

2 by Darker My Love

A catchy, psych-rock from this California band. You can download their self-titled album here from their label Dangerbird Records.
Two Ways Out by Darker My Love [deleted mp3]

Object 47 by Wire

This one does fall short for some longtime Wire fans, but it does have it good moments.
One of Us by Wire [deleted mp3]

A Partial Print by Tiger Lou

This one definitely threw me for a loop. It's less of the pop sound from previous Tiger Lou albums, but still a good listen.
Trust Falls by Tiger Lou [deleted mp3]

Love At The End of The World by Sam Roberts

A great album from Juno award-winner, Canadian songwriter Sam Roberts. "Detroit '67" is my favorite, for obvious reasons.
Them Kids by Sam Roberts [deleted mp3]
