Instead of casting my vote for the Michigan primary or drowning myself in Arcade Fire's new album that was released yesterday, I was hanging out in Royal Oak with The Antlers, The National and about 1700 neighbors, and can I just say what an amazing show it was. Out of the 21 songs The National played, only 6 were from their latest album, High Violet, so this was much more than just a sales push.
Even though this is one of my favorite bands, all bias aside, if they're coming to your town - go to the show! The best way to put it is think of taking the best song from The National and having the energy and intensity of that song notched up at least 10 times. All I could muster to say while we were leaving the venue was simply "Wow!"
